Urban Agrarian again brings you another summertime showcase of local and regional musicians whose vibes we’re feeling for a mere $5 at the door.
First we’ll see a short set from Castles, the music made by Cassidy David-Weber, drummer of Arto. Castles just released Howl IV on Mine, All Mine! records, and this will be a unique live experience, a momentous occasion not to be missed. http://wp.me/pVcpz-7o
Next, Madison locals The Weather Duo will be stimulating not only our ears but also our eyes with some interesting visualizations, something I’ve never seen done at the Gates of Heaven. The A.V. Club described the Weather Duo as “upright-bassist Ben Willis and cellist Pat Reinholz attempt to put a cosmic tear in chamber music, letting the outside influences of jazz and electronic music come into play”, so get excited. http://www.myspace.com/weatherduo
Hailing from Milwaukee, Arto is likely to be the loudest band to have played in the Gates of Heaven, ever. However their decibels are not out of their control, this trio carefully controls their energy, letting it out in furies that will leave you drained once they’re done tearing themselves apart. http://wp.me/pVcpz-9i
Finally we’ll be joined by Wintertime Carousel from Eugene, OR/Eau Claire, WI. They are touring in support of their first record, Grief in Movement. The group’s sound is derived from folk and rock roots, but with elements of jazz and blues. http://wintertimecarousel.bandcamp.com/
